Jean Gan is Head of Legal and Compliance, Asia Pacific, with over 15 years of in-house legal experience across the region. She advises C-suite and senior leaders on governance, compliance, and cross-border risk, with a focus on how emerging technologies shape legal and business decision-making.
Global Legal AI evolved from the Global AI and Law Network, which Jean founded as a response to how quickly AI was entering legal and business contexts while conversations remained fragmented. Lawyers, technologists, policymakers, and businesses were often operating in silos, despite facing shared challenges. The community was created as a space for honest discussion, real experience-sharing, and difficult questions about what was happening in practice.
As the community grew, it became clear that connection alone was not enough. Global Legal AI was established as the umbrella platform to provide structure, research, and practical guidance, with a focus on governance and real-world application.
AIgnite Women followed, driven by Jean’s research and advocacy on ethical leadership and AI, particularly how bias and inequality can be reinforced through AI systems.
Across these initiatives, Jean sets the strategic direction and research agenda. At their core, they exist to create practical, governance-led conversations about AI, responsibility, and the future of the legal profession.
